Direct a paired capture

Paired captureUpdated 2026-08-08

The capture director owns the run plan, session health and task progression. Keep the monitor visible throughout the capture.

Build the task sequence

  1. In RUN, set the title, description and cycle count.
  2. Select ADD for each step, then choose OPEN, TIMED or PAUSE.
  3. Write the cue as the demonstrator should see it in the headset.
  4. Set duration for a timed task, repetitions for an action and the reset interval after each task.
  5. Reorder the steps to match the physical sequence, then apply the run after the headset has linked.

Use a reset interval long enough to inspect the just-completed movement. The timer continues while you decide. PASS and FAIL are optional annotations only. They never gate the transition.

Pair the demonstrator

  1. Select CREATE INVITE and share the link or QR code.
  2. Ask the demonstrator to open that invitation in Quest, allow camera and microphone permissions and select the outward camera.
  3. Confirm LINK is LINKED, the footer is GO and the camera, XR and recorder rows are ready.
  4. Confirm both hand overlays follow the demonstrator before starting a two-hand task.

If the invitation expires, or the wrong headset joins, create a new one. Use RESET PAIRING only when the bound demonstrator must be replaced.

Start and direct the take

  1. Put the demonstrator in the starting position and check the active task.
  2. Set director readiness, then ask the demonstrator to press the headset readiness area.
  3. Wait for REC before asking them to begin the important motion.
  4. Watch the outward view, hand overlays, speed warnings and status footer while the task runs.
  5. Pause for a scene adjustment, tracking loss or safety concern. Resume only after the cause is clear.
  6. During a reset, select RETRY to replace an unsuitable attempt or NEXT to advance early.

Keep quality visible

GO means the current readiness target is met. CAUTION means a condition needs judgement. STOP means the capture condition is not currently good enough to begin a new take.

The hand-speed warning starts at 1.2 m/s and becomes critical at 2.0 m/s. It is a prompt to inspect motion blur, occlusion and tracking continuity. It does not automatically reject a take. A displayed speed of 0.0 m/s may mean a still hand or an untracked hand, so confirm the overlay itself.

Use OUTLINE, SIDE and trails OFF for routine direction. Switch to KEYPOINTS, MESH, velocity colours or a COG trail only when investigating tracking.

Finish the cycle

Wait until STOPPING has cleared, REC ARMED returns and the final accepted cycle appears in EPS. A normal completed cycle becomes one episode with task-segment metadata. Use review and export to take the result to a local folder or Hugging Face.
